Solar Water Heating Systems

The market for trained solar domestic hot water installers is growing.
This course has been developed in conjunction with the Solar Trade Association (STA), the UK trade association for solar water heating systems.
The course is aimed at qualified or experienced domestic heating engineers and plumbers. It usually takes approximately 2-3 days to complete, which includes assessments on theoretical and practical activities.
The course takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK and investigates the different system configurations, components and operating characteristics. It targets aspects which are particular to solar domestic hot water systems, giving operatives the confidence to select, install and maintain systems.

- Basic Design, Relevant Regulations and Legislation
- Collector Types, Design Layouts
- Pre-survey Techniques and Installation Practices
- Commissioning and Service, Fault Finding and Controls
Entry Requirement
Minimum NVQ level2/BTEC in related mechanical industries and or ACS/OFTEC.
At least 2 year’s industry experience of installation of Domestic Hot Water Systems
Qualification
NICEIC Certificate in Solar Thermal Hot Water*
