Risk Assessment of Water Systems (Legionella)
This course is designed to meet the requirements of the revised Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and Guidance: Legionnaire’s Disease: The Control of Legionella bacteria in water systems and in particular the disinfection of cold water supply systems. Risk assessments are for supervisors/managers who have a responsibility for the maintenance of and assessing the risk of Legionella developing in water systems.

- Legislative and guidance documents relative to the control of Legionnaire’s disease and disinfection of water systems.
- Describe the basic properties of water.
- Background to the disease.
- Characteristics of the bacterium and how it is transmitted.
- Sources of the bacteria.
- How to control the risk of Legionella.
- The basic cold and hot water design principles and risks associated with Legionella.
- Carry out a risk assessment of a cold and hot water system in a building and make recommendation to rectify the problems.

Knowledge and experience for maintenance of water systems.
Qualification
BPEC Certificate valid for 5 years.
